Vandalized Wheels, Wounded Hearts: A Call to Pray for Repentance
Beloved, as the Apostle Paul pleaded with the church, ‘Be reconciled to God’ (2 Corinthians 5:20), today I call us to have the same heart to run to Jesus. We see on the news and in our communities people vandalizing vehicles because of a logo or name on it but it’s more than that. The reality is they harbor hatred in their heart toward someone else, and are taking it out on their neighbors electric car. Can you not see how their anger leads them blindly?
And if thats you please hear the Word of the Lord: ‘Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him’ (1 John 3:15). It is time to repent! Flee from this sin and run to Christ, you who wield this anger as a weapon. Come to the cross, where ‘mercy triumphs over judgment’ (James 2:13), and where the blood of Jesus ‘cleanses us from all sin’ (1 John 1:7).
Our Savior commands us, ‘Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you’ (Matthew 5:44), not to curse or persecute them ourselves. Vengeance belongs to the Lord alone—‘It is mine to repay, says the Lord’ (Romans 12:19). Being driven by your emotions is a blind path towards destruction and death. Instead understand the will of God and speak the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15).
Let us intercede for those ensnared in violence and deceived by the lies of this age, peddled through media and men. Pray that God would ‘break the arm of the wicked’ (Psalm 10:15), shatter their pride as He humbled Nebuchadnezzar (Daniel 4:37), and remove the scales from their eyes, as He did for Saul on the road to Damascus (Acts 9:18). May He grant them ‘a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him’ (Ephesians 1:17), a heart of repentance as He gave to the prodigal son (Luke 15:17-18), and faith in Jesus, ‘the author and perfecter of our faith’ (Hebrews 12:2).
Let us also pray for Elon Musk, that he would continue to have courage to help with the improvement of both business and government. Pray that the God who ‘made the stars’ (Genesis 1:16) and ‘upholds the universe by the word of His power’ (Hebrews 1:3) would open his eyes, as He did for the blind man in Bethsaida (Mark 8:25), to see the One he chases unknowingly—the Savior who ‘gave Himself as a ransom for all’ (1 Timothy 2:6), who loves him more that he knows (John 3:16).
Finally, let us pray that all people—near and far—would know the peace of God, which ‘surpasses all understanding’ (Philippians 4:7), the truth that sets us free (John 8:32), and the mercy of our Lord, who says, ‘I will be merciful toward their iniquities, and I will remember their sins no more’ (Hebrews 8:12). For ‘the Lord is good; His steadfast love endures forever’ (Psalm 100:5), and He desires that ‘all people be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth’ (1 Timothy 2:4).
Church, let us love as Christ does and let us pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17), trusting that our God hears, and He answers. And may we never act out in violence towards one another but instead love people and represent Christ well (Colossians 3:17), as we follow Jesus and be an ambassador for Him (2 Corinthians 5:20).
