An Exhortation to the Young Men
Dear young men in Christ,
I implore you to examine your priorities. If the philosophies of Jordan Peterson, the entrepreneurial spirit of Elon Musk, and the musings of Joe Rogan, or some celebrity pastor carry more weight in shaping your worldview than the divinely inspired writings of the Apostle Paul, Peter, and the other New Testament authors, then I urge you to reassess and recalibrate your allegiances.
As the Psalmist warns, ‘The counsel of the Lord stands forever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations’ (Psalm 33:11). Listen to teachers that point you back to Jesus and the Word of God. Remember, ‘the wisdom of this world is folly with God’ (1 Corinthians 3:19).Do not be conformed to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God (Romans 12:2).
Make the Scriptures your A-list authority, and relegate all other voices, no matter how influential or charismatic, to a secondary status. Bible reading is more valuable than reading blog posts, news articles, or watching streaming media. As the Lord declares, ‘My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me’ (John 10:27).
Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2), and not be swayed by the whims of human opinion or the fleeting wisdom of this age. It may not seem like it now, but time is short so please make the most of it and spend it wisely for one day you’ll stand before the Lord and want to hear ‘well done good and faithful servant ‘.
