By Wisdom, a House is Built
Dear brethren, let us not deceive ourselves! The state of our homes, families, and communities is not ultimately determined by external circumstances, but by the wisdom or foolishness that proceeds from our own hearts.
“By wisdom, a house is built,” Scripture declares (Proverbs 24:3). But what kind of wisdom are we employing? Is it the wisdom of the world, or the wisdom that comes from above?
Are we building or tearing down? Are our lives marked by faithfulness, love, forgiveness, and self-discipline, or are we succumbing to disobedience, grudges, bitterness, and pride?
Jesus Christ, the Cornerstone, is the firm foundation upon which the entire structure of our lives must be established. He sets the pattern for our families, our communities, and our very own hearts. He is the power and wisdom of God, and apart from Him, we labor in vain.
Let us not forget, the greatest legacy we leave behind is not our accomplishments, but the godly generations that follow us. ‘Unless the LORD builds the house, the builders labor in vain’ (Psalm 127:1).
How then do we obtain this wisdom? We receive it when we are filled with the Holy Spirit at salvation (1 Corinthians 2:6-15). We gain it by asking God for it (James 1:5). We obtain it by seeking it, pursuing it, and valuing it above all else (Proverbs 2:2, 4-5; 4:8).
Let us repent, reform, and rebuild on the solid foundation of Christ! Let us immerse ourselves in God’s Word, that we may be wise unto salvation, and that our lives may be a testament to the power and wisdom of God.
