Words have power!
As Proverbs reminds us, “The tongue has the power of life and death” (Proverbs 18:21). The way we speak to others and about others can either bring life and encouragement or death and discouragement.
Consider this: our words can be both creative and destructive. We can use our tongue to build others up or tear them down, to inspire or discourage, to save or destroy. In fact, our words can even be a matter of life and death – influencing our own well-being and the lives of those around us.
As the wisdom says, “A man may do a great deal of good, or a great deal of hurt…according to the use he makes of his tongue.” Our words can lead to self-destruction or self-preservation, harm or comfort, death or life.
Let’s make a conscious effort to use our words to uplift and inspire those around us, whether at home, in the workplace, or in our daily interactions. Sometimes this means choosing to say nothing at all and instead being at peace. So let’s harness the power of our words to make a positive impact on those around us.
And if you’re looking for more wisdom to guide you, consider dedicating just 15 minutes a day to reading the Bible – that’s all it takes to read the entire Bible in a year!
