Bad news and Good news
Every human being born from a mom and dad who has ever set foot on this planet was sinful, and because of their sin, they were condemned. Galatians 5 shares this message of such sins: sleeping around with women you aren’t married to, wild partying and drunkenness and drug use, jealousy, fits of rage, sowing discord and gossip, and envy, and those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.
Some people spend their whole life trying to get drunk, get high, and get laid. But they end up empty, lonely, afraid, and broken. How’s that working out for you? You see, everyone is guilty before God, as our sins separates us from Him. And even though you stand condemned before God and deserve hell, do I ever have some good news for you. God made a way for you like me to be forgiven and set free.
Jesus, the Son of God, came to earth, took on human form, was brutalized by His creation, and hung on a cross until He was dead. But was resurrected, alive, from the tomb only three days later. Jesus overcame death and defeated sin’s power and offers Himself as the perfect sacrifice for us to be saved. Someone has to pay for sin, either we will for eternity or we trust Jesus did that for us already.
I implore you to accept God’s offer of free mercy and grace. Today is the day to repent of your sins, give control of your life to Jesus. Then find someone to dunk you in water in order to identify with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus as you die to your sins, symbolically bury the old man, and rise up to walk a new life. Start reading the Bible and grow in a solid church teaching God’s word.
